I have my next Auslan class tomorrow - I have been concentrating on my alphabet and number signs, but I will also have to practice the concept signs we were taught (like 'where' and 'who' and 'I can't remember', which is sure to come in handy...)
I have been using the Auslan signbank to practice, which not only has short videos of the correct movements to use for the signs but also has examples of words which are fingerspelled to practice on. It is excellent and useful! And it has brought home to me an issue I missed last week in class when everything was confusing - namely, that I have difficulties spelling. Keeping single letters in my head while something is spelt out to me and then assembling those letters into a word is something I struggle with in English, and it is a problem fingerspelling in Auslan as well. Oh well, I shall persevere.
A new storyline (as distinct from multiplayer) video has been released for Assassins' Creed: Brotherhood. Normally I would squee excitedly at my computer at this, but this one I am also posting to my DW/LJ because I think people who aren't intending to play the game would also find it pretty. It's a very good trailer and I love the way they've used the music in it.
(Things you may find useful (but not essential?) for watching the video: the game follows Ezio Auditore, an Assassin who is trying to take Rome back from the control of the Templars. He is trying to build up a group of Assassins (the Brotherhood) and take control of the city from Cesare Borgia. Cesare is the guy you see first; Ezio is the guy in the white with the hood. The periodic flashes you see are because you are experiencing the events of the game through a machine called the Animus, which allows Desmond to relive the experiences of his ancestor, Ezio.)
Today I cleaned my room and did not find either my prescription for the pill or my character sheet for
originaluddite's upcoming game. :/ I have not yet finished but I started looking in the place I thought most likely they both were, so that is concerning (moreso for the character sheet).

on 2010-11-04 04:10 am (UTC)Basically, I searched DW for "Auslan", and found your entries. And you're from Melbourne! Hurrah!
(I'm also a Melburnian, and just realised that I really should practice my Auslan at some point - so I've spent my afternoon googling different things on Auslan, and then started wondering if anyone here had written about it...)
