dzurladyDelurker and I are going to Sydney this weekend, which is quite exciting. (Also, it’s nice to be doing something nice that I can afford to do now I am working full time, because sometimes working full time means I don’t get to do stuff that I otherwise want to do, and it’s always nice to be going the other way.) We’ve been planning what we want to do while we’re away, and on Saturday one of the things we’re doing is going for High Tea. I rang up and booked it, and told delurker that as a result I had unlocked the achievement1 ‘booked high tea’, to which she responded:
Achievement unlocked: Booked high tea.

1This may need some explanation for people who do not own an xbox. When you play games, they come with ‘Achievements’, which you can unlock as you play through the game. Some you get for completing major events in the game, and some you have to do extra work for (eg collect objects, use a particular technique a certain number of times, do something difficult in combat). When you unlock an achievement, you can view the name of the achievement and a brief description of it.
So for example, if Inception were a game, you might get achievements like
'Achievement unlocked: It's all in your head
You entered a dream', or
'Achievement unlocked: Third level
Sleep well, Mr Eames.'
Inception would make for a great game, actually. (Not a direct retelling, but as a concept.) The dreams would be controllable levels and the between dream interludes could be cutscenes, and if the player was controlling a new recruit you could have a ‘learn the controls’ intro level, like with Adriane. You could even have a playable ‘escape after a job goes wrong’ level. And there could be a button for your totem! Someone should make this happen.
