This weekend has been pretty good, apart from a brief period on Saturday night when I was all D: D: D: at the election. Now I am trying not to think too hard about it. Thank god the Greens have balance of power in the Senate, so we can't be too screwed if Abott and the Coalition gets in. (And yay the Greens having a lower house seat too! Hopefully Labor will sit up and take notice at their left wing support base swinging further left.)

On the upside, I went and voted - you guys, I am still get an excited bubbly feeling every time I vote because wow, how cool is it that I can vote, and that I can trust that I am voting in a system that is not rigged? Heaps of people still do not get to do that, and it was only very recently that women could do it anywhere, and not much more time before that that there was any kind of mass enfranchisement, relatively speaking. I appreciate what I have got there, you know? And also, there was a sausage sizzle. (And a cake stall which had three - three! - cakes that had been bought at Coles. What are these shenanigans! I was somewhat mollified that someone had made toffee apples and someone else had made gingerbread people - one with red hair for Julia and one with budgie smugglers for Tony.)

Then I went to Manifest, which was great fun. Heaps of people dressed up and I got to wear my skeleton suit (adorable! although I am not sure if I should leave it at home this camp or not.) Sadly I missed the AMV editing pannel and the AMV pannel as voting took longer than I thought, but otherwise I had fun. I also saw [personal profile] aphephobia's Phoenix Wright panel, and someone had the Steel Samurai ringtone as their ringtone. Win! Must go and find it.

Saturday night I went to Helen's housewarming, which was great fun for me - we sat around in the warm and chatted and it was very relaxing. However! Everyone who said they would show up and then didn't? Totally uncool. >:(

And then today I went to see the ice hockey with Tache, which was very fun, and Melbourne Ice won 7 -3 against the Sydney Bears, which was even better. :)

And in between all of this I have been playing Alan Wake, which I am really enjoying (particularly since I have got better at aiming and thus die less often). The story is done really well, and although I do have some complaints about the game mechanics I am still hunched over on my couch feverishly playing it. Many of my conversations this weekend went 'blah blah Alan Wake blah very excited blah keep running out of ammo and batteries blah blah blah yay!'
