Beach trip

I am back! I have so many things to post about they are all clogged up in my mind. Both Yuletide and my cruise were excellent, and I will give them their own posts later.

Once I came back from the cruise I went to the beach for a couple of days with friends, which was nice. Now I am back, along with half the sand on the beach in my hair. I washed most of it out but it is still not all gone!

My favourite day was the last day of the year. I when to check out the local shops with subtle_eye and had a laid back, rambling exploring of the shops and a nice, easy and interesting conversation at the same time.

Then I went snorkelling with beachy_woods and hel_yoshi at Mushroom Park Marine Sanctuary (the rock formation did look like a mushroom, pleasingly) which I really enjoyed. (Thank you for coming with me guys!) I was looking for weedy seadragons but did not spot any (aside from the picture of one at a sign at the top of the beach), although after staring at a lot of empty seaweed I moved elsewhere in the bay and saw about 15 interesting fish in lots more seaweed.

It was good to cool down in the 40 degree heat, both by being in the water and when I was wandering through the airconditioned shops.

Then I came back, walked along the beach (it was a good beach for walking - nice sand) and flew my small (20cm) kite for awhile - it was the perfect level of wind. I was accompanied by numerous kite surfers, whose kites were on quite a different scale. :)

At night I had a couple of delicious cocktails which I had first I discovered on the boat.
(Vanilla apple cooler:
Lime, lemonade, vanilla vodka, apple sour liquor.
One shot vanilla, half a shot apple, fill glass with lemonade, add lime to taste.
(I think. I didn't have a measure with me so it was all approximate. You can adjust pretty much all of it to taste.))
And then we went down to the beach and watched a very pretty fireworks display, and it was the new year!

But I have a scarf!

In more disastrous news, I discovered today that I am once again double booked for the Melbourne Heart vs Melbourne Victory derby! Oh the huge manatee. The first one sold out before I decided to go (it would have been my first match), the second one I was busy for, and this last one I am also busy, going to a housewarming I do not want to miss. (The match and the party both start at 7.00, too.) I will have to find someone with phone internet and get the result while I am at the party.

I don't know why I am so cursed! (I was even asked before the date was finalised if I was free, and even although if I had know the game was on then and mentioned it the party would probably not have been able to be moved, it is still a sad irony.) I cannot help but feel particularly cheated, given that I bought myself a scarf at yesterday's match where delurker and I watched Heart beat NQ Fury 2 - 0. It was all going so well! I have a scarf! Surely this should not be happening now that I have bought actual sporting merchandise for the first time in my life.
